Wine, the best gastronomy of Uruguay, and football had been celebrated at Emirates stadium. The brand of the country called Uruguay Natural is known to have traveled to London only last week for using friendly matches at Emirates Stadium against Brazil as a platform for promoting and positioning the country abroad.

Uruguay’s Oscar Tabarez will not dwell in these recent games

“You cannot compare a World Cup match with a simple friendly match, winning a World Cup game is much more important and significant than any friendly game, in spite of these recent friendly encounters of my team, they did manage to reach the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup’’ Oscar Tabarez of Uruguay said.

During the month of October, Uruguay has so far, played against Japan and South Korea with those of those matches ending in defeats for the team of Oscar Tabarez but the 71 year old tactician stated that these recent results are not as impactful and will not affect his team especially after what they accomplished a few months ago.

Lucas Torreira explains decision to pick the number 11 shirt

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has given the reason behind him picking the number 11 shirt with the north London club. The Uruguay international signed for the Gunners on a permanent deal from Sampdoria last month and he has now joined them for the final part of pre-season after return from a World Cup break.

Speaking to Sport 890, Torreira revealed that he had initially fancied the number 34 shirt but the jersey was already taken up by Granit Xhaka. As such, he decided to pick the number 11 shirt which would offer him the opportunity to sit next to Mesut Ozil in the Gunners’ dressing room, he said: “I wanted to pick 34 but it was already taken by [Granit] Xhaka. I chose 11 because it’s the day of my birthday and I will get the chance to sit next to Mesut Ozil in the dressing room. It’s incredible when you go to the dressing room and see your locker is glued to that of Mesut Ozil who is a World Champion and a player with a fantastic career.”

Blackburn Rovers boss excited by the World Cup

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has admitted that he cannot wait for the World Cup to get into gear following the opening game on Thursday. The Rovers boss is currently putting the final touches on the Rovers’ pre-season plans but amidst this, he is also looking forward to the exciting feast of football in Russia.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “Anybody who loves football is looking forward to the World Cup. It’s in Russia and that’s not an easy place to get to but I will be glued to the TV sets. I’m not sure on all the kick-off times but I’m looking forward to it and looking forward to watching it with the kids and filling in the wall charts. We do every four years as a family trying to guess who will come out on top and predicting the scores!”

Luis Suarez Keen To Redeem Himself At The 2018 World Cup

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is keen to redeem himself with Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup following the shambles created by him during the previous tournament in Brazil. The marksman was banned for a biting incident on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the group stage of the previous World Cup and this eventually hampered Uruguay, who lost out to Colombia in the round of 16 stage.

Suarez has since remained an influential figure for the national side despite the unfruitful incident and he is now keen to repay the country’s faith by putting in a strong performance this summer.
